Our Story

Our funeral home has been in existence, in one form or another, since the 1830's. The present location was once the Carson family home, a prominent jeweler in Hagerstown. The Gerald N.

Minnich Funeral Home was a successor to first, the C.M. Suter and Sons Funeral Home established in 1831 by Charles M. Suter. In 1899, Charles M. retired and his two sons, Charles E. and Frank S. Suter became the new owners at the present location on North Potomac Street. In 1949, the fourth generation began operating the funeral home when the brothers' nephew,

Charles M. Rouzer, assumed management. The funeral home later took on the name Suter-Rouzer Funeral Home. In 1974, Gerald N. Minnich purchased the funeral home and was

required to change the name to the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home. In 2001, the funeral home was purchased by Bryan K. Kenworthy. After faithfully serving the families of Hagerstown for 12 years and spending almost 30 years in funeral service, he and his wife, Jackie, decided to retire and pursue other interests.

In 2012, Tim and Jennifer Harman purchased the funeral home, renaming it to reflect the current ownership. The Harman Funeral Home itself is the fifth oldest funeral home in the United States. We are proud of the long tradition of serving families of Hagerstown and surrounding communities.
